Leona Gadsby Cretney

After high school, I attended the University of Alberta where I received a degree in education. I taught high school for a few years and then adult basic education for the community college in the East Kootenay region of BC. I co-founded and was the Executive Director of the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy. And then for the 10 years prior to retirement was the Director of Programs and Services for the provincial literacy organization.

I currently live in Invermere, BC with my husband, Bob Gadsby. We have 3 sons. Jordan lives in Nipawin Saskatchewan where he is a minister. He and his wife have 4 children. Forest lives in Invermere where he builds houses. He and his wife have one son. And Robin is an actor/screenwriter living in Los Angeles.

I loved working and raising my children and now I love retirement. We spend a lot of time with family, have done some home renovations, and enjoy our garden. We feel fortunate to live in the mountains where there is so much to do outdoors, but we also like to travel.
